Our Communications Committee serves as the vital conduit for disseminating the initiatives and undertakings of TWU Local 579. It plays an integral role in fostering robust engagement between Union members and our Union Leadership. The primary objective of this committee is to ensure consistent and timely communication with our Membership across diverse platforms, encompassing print, web, social media, and emerging channels.

Communication Members and Chair Descriptions
The Communications Committee supports clear, timely, and accurate communication between the Union and its Membership. The committee assists with drafting, staging, and processing communications, ensuring that messaging aligns with the Local’s priorities and standards.
Committee Member Responsibilities
- Assist with drafting, staging, and processing communications;
- Provide feedback on communications when requested by the Chair;
- Respond to Member emails and resubscribe requests as assigned;
- Assist with basic graphic creation using tools such as Canva;
- Support special communications, including holiday messages.
Committee Chair Responsibilities
- Coordinate and assign communications work;
- Collect and review monthly timesheets;
- Distribute allotted committee hours fairly among Members based on completed work;
- Oversee communication workflow and quality control;
- Serve as the primary liaison with Union leadership.
Time Commitment:
On average, the committee processes 20–30 communications per month.
Each communication typically takes 30–60 minutes to process;
Committee Members can expect approximately 2–3 hours of Union work per week;
